GAND Online Conference
September 2023
Helping Hands for GAND hosted another online conference in 2023 on GAND Awareness Day, September 16. Approximately 100 attendees participated in sessions covering relational restoration, a motor speech approach to maximizing communication with GAND, and understanding common vision challenges and treatment options. Participants also heard from Dr. Tyler Pierson, MD, PhD, a leading GAND researcher, who gave an overview of GAND and shared an update of his research. The conference ended with a breakout session for families to connect around a topic of shared interest.
GAND Online Conference

Helping Hands for GAND hosted an online conference on July 17, 2021. GAND Research Mini-Conference
July 2019
Helping Hands for GAND hosted a mini-conference on July 6, 2019, to hear updates on current research efforts to study GAND in human cellular and mouse models. Conference participants were the first to hear the big news that HHFG has awarded a total of $60,000 in our first research grants to support these studies! This collaborative project between Dr. Tyler Pierson of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Dr. Juan Young of the University of Miami seeks to further characterize and understand this rare disorder. They also aim to eventually develop methods of screening potential therapeutic compounds that may ameliorate symptoms of GAND.
